I’ve busted out about ten or so pieces of artwork in the last week and a half. It’s been absolutely crazy! I’m enjoying myself so much though. I’ve missed doing art like this. Now, if only I had a fully working tablet… *sigh* My tablet’s pressure sensitivity cuts out a lot, especially if I’m tabbing out to look at a reference or if I’m livestreaming and I bring up the small chat window to talk to someone. I have to restart Photoshop every single time. Not to mention the settings are limited and don’t always actually apply. $80 for a new tablet. Grr.
Anyway, I make due with what I have for now and so I’ll be grateful that I can even do digital art at all. I’m just so frustrated by money. I know my mom is too, it’s hard on everyone. Perhaps I can snag a few actual paying commissions soon and buy myself a new tablet. <3
So for now, here is my latest speedpainting. It’s a Gaia commission piece I did for Arashi Erina @ Gaiaonline .com and I had so much fun with it. Particularly feathering her hair. Speedpainting – Arashi Erina
Most of my attention this past weekend has gone to Gaiaonline and the Valentine’s Day event. Someone (Mokoni) started an art freebie thread and I jumped in hoping to get my name out there again and make some friends too. So far it’s been really fun. As I’ve said before, it’s great to be in a community of relatively like minded people. I’ve also been streaming my art live on livestream so everyone can see me work. Well, not everyone that wanted to see got to, so last night I went ahead and made a quickie speedpainting video. The livestream session lasted about two hours, so speedpainting was sort of what I had to go with. xD
Anyway, it turned out really well. I’m quite pleased, even if this piece wasn’t my best. +1 like for the video if you see what I did with the hand. ;D Click me for the video!
Well, I guess I got distracted and haven’t actually finished a piece of art since my last post. >_< I rejoined Gaia in the hopes that I could possibly reel in a few people willing to commission me for actual money. Maybe. <3 I’ve also reconnected with some old friends that I really have missed. <3 Being in a flourishing art community with like-minded people is refreshing! I couldn’t always share art with my gamer friends, but I can definitely share games with my art friends! It’s actually a little astounding how many of them play League of Legends. That game’s community was so horrible though, I stopped playing so much. I can’t take losing to a team that berates you for being terrible while the rest of your team does as well (even if they’re the ones being terrible.)
It also bugs me when I lose to a team that’s utter crap, but my team couldn’t pull it together long enough to make any progress. -__-
Anyway!
I’ve got a commission on Gaia (not for real money) to finish up and I’m doing some freebies in the Valentine’s Day event thread. It’s been wonderful passing around art for free and I’ve even got a few pieces myself. ^_^ I’ll have to wander around to different threads after the event and keep chatting with people, there’s just so many awesome artists to keep track of.
On another note, I had to take my big fluffy kitty Junior to the emergency clinic last night. He had a big ball of poop stuck to his fur and we weren’t sure if he could go to the bathroom. I was trying to get it out myself, but I think it hurt him. He would hiss and growl at me, but Bitty Junior is so sweet that not once did he try to scratch or bite me. Poor thing. $200 later, he was doped up on pain meds and had a shaved butt. Now we need to find a way to get him to the vet for shots and a groomer to get the ugly knots out of his fur. D: We also bought our own shaver and some waterless shampoo, so we can groom him ourselves once he’s initially taken care of.
It’s been a busy weekend.
Also, on a side note; kneeling on hardwood floors for any amount of time makes me soooo sore. x_x It doesn’t help that I banged my shin last night in the dark.
